Katie (KECreates) is a self-taught fibre artist from Derbyshire. She loves creating unique treescapes within hoops, using a combination of hand-weaving and soft sculpture techniques. Katie designs beautifully textured pieces that generates a nostalgic and relaxing feeling.

With the initial inspiration of her Grandfather’s tapestry work, Katie began to experiment within this medium after a mental health breakdown in 2019. Focussing her mind and hands to create soothing scenes helped massively in her recovery and she has evolved her style ever since. These elements of Katie’s experiences and her need for nature, is something she is able to translate into her artworks, using a wide range of fibres to depict the beautiful English woodlands and trees.
