Twisted Wonders
Tree art
Simon creates handcrafted wire tree sculptures inspired by his long-standing passion for gardening and, in particular, the art of growing bonsai trees. Years spent nurturing and shaping bonsai have given him a deep appreciation for the structure, balance and individuality found within every tree, qualities that continue to influence his work today.
Using carefully twisted wire, Simon recreates the forms and character of trees in miniature, from elegant bonsai-inspired designs to more natural, windswept shapes. Each sculpture is individually shaped by hand and mounted on locally sourced Lakeland slate, chosen for its natural beauty and connection to the landscape that now surrounds him.
Having spent many years visiting the Lake District before making it his home, Simon draws inspiration from the trees, fells and changing seasons that define the area. His work combines a love of nature with an eye for detail, resulting in sculptures that feel both delicate and enduring.
No two pieces are ever exactly alike. Each tree develops its own unique form as it takes shape, making every sculpture a distinctive celebration of the natural world and the remarkable character found in even the smallest trees.
